Give us a little info about yourself.
My name is Christy Ayers and I’m TireHub’s Car Dealer Leader, South Central Region. I was born and raised in Ohio but currently live in Tupelo, MS, which is famous for being Elvis Presley’s birthplace. I support a team of 10 Car Dealer Representatives to achieve their individual and team sales goals.
How long have you been a Hubber?
I joined the TireHub team as a Car Dealer Representative in January 2020, then covering the Memphis, TN and Birmingham, AL markets.
How long have you been in the tire industry?
I have been in the tire industry for thirteen years. I attended a birthday party in Ohio where I met the VP of a large tire wholesaler and we immediately hit it off! Based on my positive attitude along with my coachable spirit, she recruited me to launch their Logistics Department. I will forever be grateful for the opportunity that she gave me and as they say, the rest is history! In my thirteen years, I’ve held various positions ranging from Logistics Manager, Corporate Office Manager, National Car Dealer Manager and Sales/Operations Leader.
How would you describe life as a Hubber?
No one day is ever alike! Variety is the spice of life, right?! Challenges and change are a part of any business and TireHub’s culture is one of family, meaning we care for each other beyond just business. Sharing best practices, participating in team building exercises and checking on each other amid natural disasters all impact the end goal of selling more tires while servicing customers and building relationships.
What’s something you wish people knew about tires / the industry / etc.?
Tire purchases should be viewed as an investment rather than an expense. They play an integral role in the safety of your vehicle. If your tires are compromised, you are putting the safety of yourself and all passengers at risk. I recently read an article that tire-related crash deaths exceeded cellphone distraction-caused deaths. To put this in perspective, investing in a new set of tires is a small price to pay for you and your loved ones’ personal well-being.
What’s your favorite customer interaction?
My very first visit to Birmingham, AL, I called on a Chrysler dealership. Their Parts Manager was in his first week and extremely overwhelmed. That day I gave him a brief overview of the Mopar TireWorks program. He continued to lean on me to assist him in various capacities, such as training on their incentive programs, cleaning up their inventory and getting the right tires in stock. As we were both in new positions, we grew together simultaneously in our career paths. To this day, he refers to me as his “tire expert” and is committed to TireHub as his primary distributor.
How is TireHub different?
Without a doubt, it’s the people at TireHub that make the difference. As a young company that continues to grow, we focus on solutions rather than the problems themselves. We see challenges as an opportunity for growth both personally and professionally. Our culture positions us for future success.
Describe your approach to providing exceptional customer service.
I assess the all-around needs of the customer and provide them with a value proposition that creates a win/win solution for all involved. Prior to leaving a dealership, I create a follow-up action plan with appropriate timelines to ensure customer expectations are met. As a result, this process has created customer loyalty second to none. It really is as simple as I do what I say I will do.
What would you deem your greatest success since starting with TireHub?
During my first year at TireHub as a Car Dealer Representative, I learned a whole new way of doing business virtually due to the COVID pandemic of 2020. Prior to COVID-19, I was only in the field for six weeks and had not met most of my customers face to face. However, I was still able to gain substantial stocking SKUs and market share. Despite the many challenges worldwide, I am most proud of the fact that I overcame them with hard work, commitment to excellence and prioritizing my customer needs. After all, this is the TireHub way.
