Interview with David Distel, West Region Car Dealer Leader
Our West Region Car Dealer Leader, David Distel, exemplifies TireHub’s mission while living by the motto, “Every Hubber is a leader and every leader is a Hubber.” While always saying “yes” to the customer, David continues to build relationships by learning each customer’s goals and working together as a team to achieve them.
In his interview, he describes life as a Hubber as exciting. Read below for David’s experiences with TireHub.
Give us a little info about yourself.
I’m David Distel – West Region Car Dealer Leader. I lead a team of 10 to help car dealers across 17 TireHub TLCs to put their customers on tires that they’ll love. I was born in Phoenix, Arizona and have traveled all around the West over the course of my career. I currently reside in Simi Valley, California.
How long have you been a Hubber?
I’m a day one Hubber! (TireHub opened its doors in July 2018.)
How long have you been in the tire industry?
Tires have been a part of my whole life, following in the footsteps of my father and grandfather! Always being around tires and warehouses as a kid really got me excited about the business. After a few jobs in college, I could not get away from tires. I have been working full time in the wholesale tire industry for 10 years now. Once it is in your blood, there is no getting out of the industry.
How would you describe life as a Hubber?
Exciting. Watching the company and culture grow to what it is today has been a great journey.
What’s something you wish people knew about tires / the industry / etc.?
The technology that goes into building and creating tires for specific applications. A tire is not just a tire. Also please check your air pressure!
Do you have a favorite customer interaction?
Customer interactions are what keep me going every day. I have had the opportunity to create so many lasting friendships, and being seen as a trusted business partner is the ultimate compliment. It would be way too hard to pick just one.
How is TireHub different?
TireHub is different because TireHub cares about our customers and our Hubbers. “Saying Yes” to our customers is something that is truly followed at all levels of our organization. ‘Every Hubber is a Leader and Every Leader is a Hubber’ is something that stays with me every day.
Describe your approach to providing exceptional customer service.
Saying Yes. Exceptional customer service to me means learning what the customer’s goals are and working as a team to get them there.
What would you deem your greatest success since starting with TireHub?
The greatest success I have had since starting with TireHub is helping the Car Dealer Channel grow from nothing into the powerhouse it is today. Even with some challenges in the start, TireHub has always found a way to get it done. The growth and success we have seen in this channel I feel is my greatest career achievement to date.
